5 Financial is a proud cap sponsor of local water polo club, the Drummoyne Devils.
The club is delighted to have three of its players as members of the Men’s National Team for the Rio Olympics.
Here’s a media release about their success:
3 Drummoyne Devils off to the Olympics
The road to Rio began a long time ago for Drummoyne Devils Aidan Roach, Mitch Emery and Tyler Martin who began playing water polo together as juniors.
And in August, the three of them will line up as team mates as members of the Aussie Sharks at the Rio Olympics.
“These boys are great mates who’ve played on the same teams for more than a decade,” said proud mum, Kerrie Emery. “They’ve travelled together on tournaments for Drummoyne and as representative players at State and National level. It’s a huge thrill that they will now have the chance to play together for Australia at the Olympics.”
For Aidan (or AJ as he is known), it will be his second Olympics, having played for the Sharks in London in 2012. For Mitch and Tyler, it will be their first Olympic appearance.
“Out of thirteen players in the Sharks, three hail from the Drummoyne Devils,” said James Tuite, Club President. “We are tremendously proud of all three and congratulate them on this massive achievement.”
The Olympics run from 5 to 21 August in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The Aussie Sharks’ first game is against Brazil on 7 August at 9.50am AEST.
Congratulations to Drummoyne Water Polo Club, and to AJ, Tyler and Mitch. We’ll be cheering for you from home!
